Trustee Scholarships

Up to $34,000 per year

All first-year students who apply for admission to Coe will be automatically considered for a Trustee Scholarship. To receive the full scholarship amount, students are expected to live on campus. Commuter students should contact the Office of Admission with questions.

This scholarship, part of the Williston Jones Full-Tuition Scholarships, is awarded to high academic students with the potential to positively impact our campus. *Please see additional renewal information below.

Diversity Leadership Scholarship

Up to Full Tuition

This Williston Jones Scholarship is open to prospective students who are U.S. citizens, permanent residents or undocumented residents, from broadly diverse backgrounds. Preference for at least one of these awards will be given to a qualified student with DACA status. *Please see additional renewal information below.

Sustainability Scholarship

This scholarship, part of the Williston Jones Full-Tuition program, is awarded to prospective students who have a passion for the environment, creating sustainable practices and reducing our carbon footprint on the world. *Please see additional renewal information below.

Marshall Music Scholarship

Up to Full Tuition

The Williston Jones Marshall scholarship recognizes and supports prospective students who have the motivation and background necessary to pursue the Bachelor of Music degree at Coe College. *Please see additional renewal information below.

National Merit & Achievement

Up to Full Tuition

Full tuition is awarded to National Merit and National Achievement Finalists if Coe is listed as a first choice with the National Merit Scholarship Corporation by May 1 of your senior year. Semifinalists are awarded $18,000. **Please see additional renewal information below.

Visual & Performing Arts Scholarships and All-State Music Scholarships

Awards valued up to $4,000 & at $5,000 per year.

Scholarships are available to majors and non-majors alike through auditions and interviews with art, film studies, music and theatre faculty. The Music Department also awards a variety of scholarships ranging up to full tuition. All-State musicians automatically receive a $5,000 scholarship (February 1 admission deadline).

Iowa Kohawk Awards

$2,000 Per Year

Coe’s outstanding historic relationship with students from our home state allows us to automatically consider qualified applicants from Iowa high schools for awards valued at $8,000 over four years ($2,000 per year). Commuter students will be considered for awards valued at $1,000 per year.

Impact Awards

$2,500 Per Year

The Impact Award recognizes the influence prospective Coe students will have on our campus, city and the world. Eligible admitted students will be notified of the criteria to receive this award at the time of admission.

Writing Center Fellowships

$1,300 Per Year

Each year, a select group of undergraduate students is invited to compete for fellowship positions in the Coe College Writing Center. The goal is to find individuals from across all academic areas who have a strong interest in writing and enjoy working with other students.

National Kohawk Awards

$2,000 Per Year

The National Kohawk Award enriches the educational experiences of all Coe students through the inclusion of voices from across the United States. Admitted students awarded a Trustee Scholarship are automatically considered for this additional award. National Kohawk Awards are renewable for three years after the student’s first year at Coe College.

Sibling and Legacy Awards

Valued at $500 and $1,000 Per Year

Siblings of current Coe undergraduate students or siblings of Coe graduates are eligible to receive $500 annually. Children of parents or grandparents who are Coe alumni are eligible to receive $1,000 annually in pursuit of their bachelor’s degree.

Outside Scholarships

Values Vary

Outside scholarships can enhance a student's financial aid package and help decrease the cost of attending college. Please contact your high school counselor or your Coe admission counselor for scholarship search suggestions.


*Full-tuition Williston Jones awards are renewable for an additional three years at the rate of tuition of the student’s entering year, plus a yearly increase of $1,000. Students who receive a Williston Jones scholarship valued at $40,000 or more are not eligible for any other Coe-funded financial aid and the Williston Jones scholarship will replace any institutional scholarships or grants they may have been awarded. To receive the full scholarship amount, students must live on campus. Commuter students should contact the Office of Admission with any questions.

**Full-tuition National Merit & National Achievement awards are renewable for an additional three years at the rate of tuition of the student’s entering year, plus a yearly increase of $1,000, provided the finalist maintains Satisfactory Academic Progress. Students who receive a full-tuition National Merit or National Achievement scholarship are not eligible for any other Coe-funded financial aid and the National Merit scholarship will replace any institutional scholarships or grants they may have been awarded. To receive the full scholarship amount, students must live on campus. Commuter students should contact the Office of Admission with any questions.
